UHA’s Newest Medical Directors | Dr. Battle & Dr. Velpuri

Please join us in welcoming University HealthCare Alliance’s newly appointed Medical Directors, Dr. Noel Battle, and Dr. Anapama Velpuri.

Dr. Noel Battle is the new Medical Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Battle joined UHA in June of 2018 and is a Family Medicine provider at Alliance Medical Group in Pinole.

In this newly created role, Dr. Battle will be responsible for providing oversight and executive leadership in the development of a culture that values diversity and supports inclusion among all UHA providers and staff; both as a fundamental requirement for social justice and also as a strategy for achieving excellence. Most notably, Dr. Battle will be tasked with collaborative leadership in the ongoing development, implementation, and overall management of UHA’s Diversity and Inclusion Program.

Dr. Battle has worked in urban and rural settings, group and private practice, providing medical care to patients of all ages for over 16 years. He completed his residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Family Medicine and received his degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Anupama Velpuri is UHA’s new Medical Director of Service Excellence (Patient Experience). Dr. Velpuri joined UHA in 2011 and she currently practices Family Medicine at Bay Valley Medical Group in Pleasanton.

In this newly created position, Dr. Velpuri will be responsible for bringing the UHA perspective to the Service Medical Directors team at SHC, and for providing physician leadership for Service Excellence and the Patient Experience within University Medical Partners and other medical groups within the Foundation.

In her role, Dr. Velpuri will oversee the development and implementation of patient experience programs that directly affect providers within UHA. Dr. Velpuri will also serve as a resource in many service excellence protocols and policies and procedures.

Dr. Velpuri was born in India, growing up in a family environment where developing a passion for medicine was inevitable. She received her Medical Degree from Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal and completed her residency at San Joaquin Hospital.

Please join us in welcoming both Dr. Battle and Dr. Velpuri into their new roles and thank them for all they do to improve the care we provide for our patients across the Bay Area. Both Drs. Battle and Velpuri will report to the UHA Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Bryan Bohman, in their Medical Director roles.
