Neelam Sharma

Neelam Sharma (pictured in black) is our October wellness spotlight winner!  She was nominated by her colleague at CAP-Pleasanton, Taylor Jones.  Neelam was awarded this month’s spotlight for changing her lifestyle by including regular physical activity.  Here’s what Taylor said in her nomination: “Neelam took advantage of UHA’s discounted prices for a local gym. She goes for a run everyday during the week! Neelam has a drive to stay motivated and is always up for a challenge!” By seeing her stay active, she’s an inspiration to her teammates.

WELL@UHA asked Neelam to share her tips on what inspired her to change her lifestyle and how she shares that with her coworkers.

Q. First, tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A. A fun fact about me is that I used to be a dance instructor.

Q. In your nomination, it mentioned your dedication to staying physically active. How did you get started with a routine and what are your favorite forms of exercise?

A. It was due to my health that I decided to join a gym. Some of my favorite exercises are lunges and battle ropes!

Q. When times get busy, how to you stay motivated to keep active?

A. My kids keep me on my toes and they keep me motivated!

Q. What are your favorite tips to stay motivated?

A. Some of my tips are setting goals and make it fun to have a healthy lifestyle.

Q. How do you and your team members keep active during the work day?

A. My team members and I try to go for walks during our break times.

Q. What advice would you give to someone who wants to add more physical activity to their life?

A. I’ve been through it myself so my advice is to talk about it, write your goals on paper if you need to and try to make physical activity part of your routine.

Congratulations to Neelam for making physical activity a part of your life and to Taylor for spotlighting wellness in action!
