Lynette Graham | Bay Valley Castro Valley

Lynette Graham is our September wellness spotlight award winner!  Lynette is Patient Service Representative at Bay Valley Castro Valley. She was nominated by her supervisor, Marian Palacios. Marian’s nomination shared how Lynette participated in a clinic weight loss challenge and lost an incredible 21 pounds! Through her success, she served as a motivation for the entire Castro Valley team. She helped the team focus on healthy eating and inspired them with her lunches. 

WELL@UHA asked Lynette to share how she was able to make such a dramatic change and also inspire her teammates along the way. 

Q. Your nomination highlighted how you lost almost 25 pounds during your office’s weight loss challenge.  What’s your biggest motivation?

A. My biggest motivation was to be my healthiest and lose pounds too. 

Q. Your nomination also mentioned your inspiring healthy lunches. What are your favorite healthy lunch tips? 

A. I do have a Weight Watchers cookbook, but for lunch I find it easier to eat the frozen meals with a salad or vegetables.  It’s fast, easy and I actually like them and there are so many different food options.

Q.  Marian mentioned you’re an expert with Weight Watchers points system – how does this system help you achieve your goals?

A. I use the old Weight Watchers 1 2 3 Success points system.  It has worked well for me in the past.  It’s easy!  There is a point range for your weight.  All foods are worth points.  I drink a lot of water and stay at the lower end of my point range.  I watch dietary fiber grams (higher is better when counting points), calories and total fat grams in the foods that I eat.

Q. What’s your favorite way to stay motivated to continue your healthy changes?

A. Seeing my progress really motivates me.  

Q. What brings you joy?

A. Spending time with my family, watching my grandchildren’s sporting events, my friends and weekend getaways. 

Q. What do you think makes a healthy workplace? 

A. When others in the office have the same goal to eat healthy, exercise and lose weight.  No junk food around.
