SHC and SHC-ValleyCare Earn Five Stars from CMS

We are proud to share that Stanford Medicine has received another prestigious recognition for care quality  – one that deserves special acknowledgment.

In late January, both SHC and SHC-ValleyCare earned five stars – the best possible rating – from Hospital Compare, an online quality reporting program managed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Hospital Compare website, which reports information on more than 4,000 hospitals nationally, is designed to help consumers make informed decisions when choosing a care provider.

In addition to earning CMS’s top rating for quality, SHC and SHC-ValleyCare exceeded the national average on performance indicators such as mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and other vital measures.

It is a testament to the incredible dedication of our faculty and staff as well as the culture that we have cultivated across our institution. Through the Integrated Strategic Plan, we are more collaborative and aligned than ever before in “being the best at getting better.” And the results speak loudly.

Please join us in celebrating this significant milestone, which follows a banner year in 2019 for quality achievement.

On behalf of our entire leadership team, thank you for your commitment, hard work, and the inspiring culture that you have helped us create at Stanford Medicine. It is a privilege to work alongside you as colleagues.
