Three of our UHA Providers Graduate from the Stanford Leadership Development Program

For the past decade, Stanford School of Medicine (SoM) and Stanford Health Care (SHC) have committed to the development of leadership skills of providers, faculty, and staff in order to more effectively carry out the strategies essential for excellence in both organizations. For this year, the 11th year of the program, UHA also had three physician leaders graduate from the program – Drs. Carrie Duffy, Michael Kim, and Rachel Seaman. It is recognized that collaboration among providers, faculty, and staff leaders is essential for success in an academic medical center. As our health system continues to grow, SHC, UHA, and SoM are encouraged to work together to reach our key outcome goals – clinical quality, patient, provider, and staff experience, financial and operational performance, and optimizing our Community Academic Model (CAM), among others.

In this program, participants are engaged in active learning experiences, including, formulating one’s own leadership development goals, utilizing self-assessment tools, short writing assignments and reflection, completion and presentation of a project, the flipped classroom model, case studies, and role playing.

“We are proud to have three of our outstanding providers graduating from this leadership program. The program not only builds great leadership skills but also connects our UHA leaders with other emerging leaders across Stanford Medicine. Both of those outcomes will be very valuable to UHA as we build the programs necessary to become a pre-eminent medical foundation and as we increasingly integrate the UHA network with the larger Stanford Health Care system,” said Dr. Bryan Bohman, UHA Chief Medical Officer.

Individuals are nominated by the SoM Senior Associate Dean for Diversity and Leadership. The process is designed to create the most qualified, diverse, and inclusive mix of participants to enhance learning from each other and to reflect the breadth of the school’s and hospital’s mission.
